Some trowels are 4" wide others 5" (and considerably more money) what size width is best? also whats the best length or most commonly used? 12, 14.16 inch long?

I live in the US but have been to the UK several times. Here, we use drywall for interior walls. Tape and mud the joints and screw heads and paint. Is that not a thing in the UK? Older houses like mine that were built 70 years ago have plaster and lath walls.

Nice collection of tips. I've been a plasterer for almost 50 years. I'm retired from the trade as a means of making a living but I still have the chops to do work for friends and family as favors. My only advice to add to everything presented in this video is to clean your trowels and hawks (plasterboard) throughout the workday so you don't end up with that thin film of dried plaster on your tools over time. My plaster hoe, trowels, and hawks are still clean to this day because I took the time to rinse them off with a big brush after every wheelbarrow load of plaster. My wheelbarrows also got the same treatment with a hose between loads. Clean tools are a builder's best friend. Thanks for your videos. It brought back fond memories of dancing with plaster for so many years.

Kirk, can you do some solid wall plastering. Particularly internal exterior walls like window walls and how to combat them. Im facing an issue where i cant baton and foil back the board due to the style of window and unsure on rendering and skimming without stopping damp etc. Quite new to the game. I’ve seen TikTok memes of you and I’ve heard people on site calling you an attention hoe and tbh kurt I think you give some good old school advice, I think your same era as me late 90s on trowels, I’ve never seen any live streams where your talking bollox, I’ve noticed your abit over dramatic but that’s probably just your personality not craving attention, or am I wrong and others right? render from right to left because cement is thicker, so you render to an edge rather than left to right which then you would be overlapping and leave a void. so j b taylor told me at college. many years ago.

have you tried spraying the accelerator on after troweling up, just wondering if you could, then you have time to trowel until your ready for quick set.
